French desire was set up by Sharon and David Stratford from Brisbane. They have travelled around France extensively as well as to other French destinations like Quebec and Noumea. In 2006, their passion for things French resulted in them buying their dream petit maison in the west of France. Since then they have realised the advantages of buying French property (namely that they are relatively inexpensive, you can borrow money from French banks at low, fixed interest rates then negatively gear against your Australian income) and purchased two more places in France.
Through French desire they share their experiences of France and things French, including French property purchasing, with others who share a similar passion. Sharon has also written a book about their experiences.
Their 500 page website contains plenty of information about France - where to go, things to do, facts about France etc. It also has an online shop through which you can buy Sharon's book as well as a number of property purchasing guides. They run French themed events from time to time including information nights, Bastille Day functions, cheese and book nights as well as having information on other French events happening around the country.
After informing others about the advantages of and how to buy French property, some of 5,000 their members have purchased their own places in France and many of them you can now holiday rent through French desire's website. Sharon and David's places in France are also available to rent, from $550 a week. They also have an apartment in Paris you can stay in.
